Several questions: I TT Deluxe cd at an office supply store. the efiling of my Federal Return went through. Question 1: South Carolina - message says forms not ready for print - what's up with that? When will they be available? Question 2: Can i efile now, without the forms being finalized for print? The state is accepting filings. Question 3: I tried efiling the state and got a payment screen - how do I circumvent that since I already paid for the product in the desktop version?

Often some state forms lag behind the IRS forms, so it is possible that SC doesn't have all of the forms you need ready to go. You can use the tool I'm linking below to check on your forms availability. Once you've successfully e-filed your returns, both should be available to print.
Has your federal e-filed form been accepted by the IRS? If you haven't e-filed your state return yet, you'll now need to wait until the federal return has been accepted to e-file your state return. This is a security measure.
How do I file my state return after I've already filed federal?
If you DID e-file your SC return (and forms weren't all ready), TurboTax should contact you when all forms are ready so you can complete your filing.
As for the charge to e-file your state return, you should not be charged again. If, by chance, you find that you have a duplicate charge, TurboTax will quickly refund your overcharge.
Why was I double-charged or billed twice?
My Federal return WAS accepted.
When I click on "notify me" when SC forms are available, I get an error, saying I didn't select any form....but I did!
I still had to pay $20 to efile state. I thought that was part of the desktop verson purchase?
When are SC forms available?
@TwoRedOneWhite Likely most SC forms are ready. Use the link I shared (re-sharing below) to see when the specific forms you need will be available to e-file in TurboTax.
The Desktop Platform (for most states) includes one free state tax preparation program. But TurboTax charges for e-filing the state return in the Desktop platform. You can always print and mail for free. (By the way, the state e-file fee increases in March, so you filed before the increase. Good for you!) You won't need to pay to e-file state again. Once the forms are available, you should be allowed to re-submit your SC return without any additional billing info.
Helpful. I hit send tonight...now wait. Thank you.
My pleasure. Hope this is a done deal for you!
