Might be in regards to a business.  A fiscal year is a set of 12 months where the year ends in any month besides December. If this is indeed a 2021 tax return, then the issue must be that Alabama is seeing a different year end than 12/31. Perhaps "fiscal year" was checked off in regards to an Alabama LLC.  Alabama does not allow non calendar year tax returns to be e-filed. You can go through your entries to make sure you did not press fiscal year anywhere , or print and mail the Alabama return.

Did you find an answer on this? I'm getting the same error for a basic individual income tax return.

Never mind - I just found the answer and was able to resolve the issue on mine. If you hadn't gotten yours fixed yet, switch to the Forms view and go to the first page of the AL Form 40. Make sure the beginning and end date fields at the top of the form are blank. Otherwise, it thinks you're trying to file for a fiscal year.
