Dual State Residency WV and VA

My permanent home is in WV and I also started renting a place in March in VA to be close to work. I return home on the weekends. Since Ill be in VA for more than 183 days I will not meet the requirements for reciprocity between the states.  It seems like I am a domiciliary resident of WV and an actual resident of VA according to the tax codes I read. 

My question is , how will my taxes work next year? I wont be double taxed correct? I wont have to pay full state tax to both states correct?

Dual State Residency WV and VA

You are correct that you are a domiciliary resident of WV and an "actual" resident of VA.  You'll have to file as a resident in both states, but you should be able to take an out-of-state credit on Schedule E of your WV tax return, thus avoiding double taxation.  See page 24 of this reference:
