Do I need to file a state tax return for Ohio if I got an Ohio IT K-1 form? I live in Colorado and filed a Colorado state tax form along with my Federal form.

I received a Schedule K-1 from a trust payout this year and filed it fine with my Federal return, but also received an Ohio IT K-1 form. I live in Colorado and filed a Colorado state return. Do I also have to file an Ohio state return?

Yes, unless one or more of the following apply:

• You are single and your federal adjusted gross income is less than or equal to $12,250 and you have no Ohio Schedule A adjustments.
• You are married, filing jointly and your federal adjusted gross income is less than or equal to $14,500 and you have no Ohio Schedule A adjustments.
• Your only source of income is retirement income that is eligible for the retirement income credit on the Ohio Schedule of Credits (line 2) and the credit is the same or larger than your tax before credits on the Ohio IT 1040 (line 8c).
• Your exemption amount on Ohio IT 1040 (line 4) is the same as or more than your Ohio adjusted gross income Ohio IT 1040 (line 3) and you have no Ohio Schedule A adjustments.
