CT Refund Missing

I called the CT Department of Revenue and said they have no record of my tax return. TurboTax said it was approved. The same thing happened last year and I never received my refund. Last year, it was still missing from their records months after filing. I received my federal refund.

Any idea why they do not have it? Should I also file paper?

CT Refund Missing

The first thing you should do is to log into your Turbo Tax account and make sure that your e-file status for your state says "Accepted". Keep in mind that you will have a status for the federal and a separate status for the state.

If it says Continue my return, next to the state return, go ahead and do that. Keep going until you submit the e-file.

If you have an e-file status for your state:

  • Pending means your return was sent, but has not been accepted yet. In that case, you wait until it changes to accepted or rejected. The state would not have a record of your return until they accept it.
  • Accepted means you are all done. There may be a short delay in your state being able to track your return.
  • Rejected means that the state has rejected your return and you need to correct something on it. In that case, you should click on Fix my return and follow the instructions.

You can also check the status of last year's state return by scrolling the bottom of the Tax Home screen and selecting 2018.
