I live in michigan and work remotely with a company in CA. Did I earn income in CA?

Check the W2. It should say what state you earned the money in

No.  Your work did not physically take place in California.  Please check your W-2 to make sure your employer did not withhold California income tax.  If that happened, you'll need to file a state return.  Otherwise, you don't need to file a California tax return.
