Can't amend my 2023 Desktop return

You won't be able to amend your return yet because the IRS hasn't released Form 1040X, the amended return form.

Check back in late February, when Form 1040X is typically released.

If you prepared your original tax return using TurboTax:

1. Log in to your account.
2. Open the tax return you already filed.
3. Click on the link to amend your return (which won't be available until mid-to-late February).
4. The software will walk you through the process of filing the amendment.

The 1040X will not be available until at least mid=February.  You should not try to amend until the original return has been fully processed or you can cause confusion which results in a longer delay to process your return.
