CA State Taxes Active Military

I am filing my tax return as an active military member stationed in FL but have a home of record of CA so it is saying i owe state taxes but I thought that as a military member I am exempt because my orders are outside of CA.

CA State Taxes Active Military

Military pay is exempt if you meet CA active duty requirements.

An individual domiciled in California when entering the military is considered a nonresident while stationed outside California on permanent change of station (PCS) orders.

If your only income is military, you do not need to file a CA return. If for example, you sell a house in CA, you would have CA source income and need to pay taxes.
