What kind of tax? Generally taxes for schools are treated the same as any other state & local tax (SALT) of that type. If it's a property tax (it is in most states), it's deductible on your Federal return IF you itemize up to the SALT cap of $10,000 per year. (I'm still researching NYS returns since that's where you posted, but TurboTax NYS should pick that up automatically from your Federal return.)
NYS treats property taxes as an itemized deduction like the Feds do (though I don't believe they have a SALT cap); there is also a school tax credit for New York City residents.
