apportionment of social security and military retirement between two states

We were part time residents in Illinois and Utah. On the Illinois step-by-step we are asked to apportion Interest income, dividend income, capital gains, rents, and finally social security benefits between the two states. Then the next step asks "Federal Taxed Retirement and Social Security". The Federal Total calculated by Turbotax adds the Illinois military pay and all of the taxable Social Security calculated by Form 1040. We actually received more social security than is taxable according to Form 1040. How do we apportion the social security and/or the military actually received in Illinois  in the Illinois box? The federal total that is calculated by Turbotax seems to be higher than it should be if we add what we actually got paid from the military and Social Security in Illinois.

You would apportion by the length of time in each state. If you spent 183 and 182 days you would have approximately a 50/50 split.
