You're probably working on your New York state tax return, correct?
Well, whether you are or are not, you definitely won't be a Yonkers resident if you live in Buffalo. They're about 350 miles or so apart; and Yonkers is adjacent to the northern New York City borough of the Bronx. So, that's quite a good distance away from Buffalo, where you indicate you live.
That said, the reason that TurboTax would be asking you this question is because, within the state of New York, only NYC and Yonkers have a separate and additional income tax, that is figured on top of the New York State tax. The software wants to know (by asking this question) if you are a resident of Yonkers (or NYC) for local income tax purposes.
Since you indicate you live in Buffalo, then neither the NYC or Yonkers local income tax will apply to you.
Thank you for asking about this.
