Although
there is no clear-cut way to declare residency, the IRS’s primary deciding factor has
to do with your intent for your move, meaning whether you intended for it to be
temporary or permanent, and your subsequent actions to prove this intent.
A move in and of itself does not necessarily end residency and it is unlikely that the short move that you are describing would be considered a permanent move from Alabama.
