I live in Utah but did a boutique in New Mexico.  Do I need to file  a New mexico state tax return in addition to my Utah return??

Yes, if you earned income in New Mexico but was a resident of Utah, you would have to file a nonresident return for New Mexico and a resident return for Utah.  If you are required to file a federal income tax return with the IRS and you are a nonresident with income or loss from New Mexico sources, you must file a state income tax return.
