I was looking at my Montana return because Intuit will not accept my credit card to e-file my state return, wondering if there is an error that is holding up the process. I noticed that my itemized deductions appear higher than I would have expected. Line 2 of my itemized deductions schedule is approximately, but not exactly, twice the amount it should be. I had ACA credits in 2023 and had to complete IRS Form 8962, Premium Tax Credit, which appears to be input correctly. If someone knows what entry floods into Line 2 for the Montana itemized deductions, it would be greatly appreciated.

The program uses the 1095-A form, changes it with tax credits, and puts the actual amount of premiums into the return for you. Please double check the actual amount allowed. Also, you should not be adding those premiums. You should only add deductibles, copays, dental, vision, mileage, etc. See Publication 502 (2023), Medical and Dental Expenses
From Montana forms and instructions:
Do medical insurance premiums ring any bells?
Yes, I know what is supposed to go there, but where is the amount from that is flooded into Line 2 of Itemized Deductions. I never entered the amount that is showing up into TurboTax. Actual medical insurance premiums were $1115, while the amount reflected in Line 2 is $2241.
