If my son amends his federal through efile will it automatically efile state for Georgia through TurboTax?

Also, once his amending process goes through to allow adding him as a dependent for

me to claim, can I amend my federal and state via efile or does it have to be done through snail mail.  It would be for 2025 taxes. Thanks.

No, amending a federal return on TurboTax does not automatically e-file a Georgia state return.

    • Georgia requires amended returns to be printed and mailed.
    • Select "File by Mail" in the TurboTax file section for your state return, as TurboTax Support indicates Georgia amended returns must be mailed.

Yes, once your son's amended return is accepted, you can then claim him as a dependent if he qualifies.

@user17714495370 Waiting for your son to amend his return will not help you e-file this year at all.   Your choices are to file your return that claims him as a dependent by mail --- since mailed returns are not rejected.  Or get an IP PIN to try to e-file.   Either way, his amended return will take four or more months to be processed and will not be in the system in time for you to e-file.

GET IP pin in order to e-file if your dependent’s SSN was claimed on another return
