What type of return are you doing, business (e.g., 1065, 1120-S) or personal (e.g., 1040, Schedule C)?

What is the deduction and did you already file and are now amending?

Which deduction?  Are you filling out schedule C?  If you are trying to correct an Expense, you can probably get to it here…..

    Where to enter business expenses

Insurance Expense on Schedule C 1040.  2025, not yet filed.  Only option I have found is ‘update’, which does not allow me to change amount

Are you using an online version of TurboTax?

I don’t seem to be having a problem changing the values in the desktop versions (Hone & Business).

What kind of insurance?   Is it for insurance you pay for employees or home office?   Is it too big or small?   Is it limiting the amount?  Some expenses, such as home office or section 179 depreciation can only be used to reduce your schedule C taxable income to zero, and not to create a loss.

Since you are using the Desktop download program installed on your computer  you can switch to Forms mode and  change it directly.  Although if you make an y overrides  you probably can’t efile.    Update should let you change an amount.  What screen are you on?

specifically, is the insurance for medical insurance on you, your spouse, dependents or employees? That is handled differently.  what kind of insurance?

If it’s on Form 7206, you can access that form in Forms Mode and make changes.

no you can’t make the changes on Form 7206.   it has to be entered on Schedule C

Thanks everyone.  Going to Forms and right clicking on the amount gave me a over ride option.  Was able to change it.  Thanks again

DO NOT OVERRIDE! That invalidates the warrentee and you may not be able to efile.

Go into SChedule C and just enter the amount on Line 15 (the indented box).

I tried everything to change this amount.  The override is the only thing that worked.  Thanks

you do not change the amount on form 7206; it is changed on Schedule C.

are you stating you could not data enter an amount into Line 15 on Sch C?

FYI -   Self Employed Health Ins will not show up on Schedule C and not reduce any SE Tax on a net profit.  It does reduce your 1040 total income for the regular income tax.

Self-employed health insurance deduction goes on Schedule 1 line 17 (which goes to 1040 line 10), as long as the expense is not greater than your net self-employment income. If it does exceed your net self-employment income it gets split automatically. An amount equal to your net self-employment income goes on Schedule 1 and the remainder gets added in to medical expenses on Schedule A.  Medicare plan B payments are qualified as Self-employed medical insurance premiums and should be entered under Business instead of in the SSA-1099 Social Security Benefits section.

Where to enter Health Ins if you are self employed in Online & Desktop.  (COBRA goes on schedule A)

What kind of insurance do you have?  If you have a marketplace plan…..You only enter it from the 1095-A.  When you enter the 1095A there should be a box to check for self employment.  If you enter the 1095-A and select the "Self-employed and bought a Marketplace plan" box, it will automatically include those premiums in the SE Health Insurance section. So you shouldn't enter it again on schedule C.

I have the Home & Business Desktop program.  6/6/26  I went though the steps.  It is in the same as before.
For Desktop Home & Business program…..
Click on the Business tab - Continue
Then pick I'll choose what I work on
Click on Business Income and Expenses Update
Click on Edit by your Business name
    Go down to Business Expenses
    Click on Other Common Expenses
Then go down to Insurance Payments - Start
