"that's just one of the reasons the IRS requires you to file Form 1040."
This sounds like an answer on this forum that dates to before 2018 when there was still the 1040EZ, the 1040A, and the 1040.
Unfortunately, since all the answers from the old system (AnswerXchange) were copied over to the new system in late May and early June, the original date of the post has been lost, and the date reset of the copy.
Please restate your situation and ask your question so that we can help you.
....and, if you are married, are filing jointly (MFJ), and you have entered both your, and your spouse's W-2 forms.....it is Critical that you go back to the W-2 area and make sure each W-2 is assigned to the correct person.
Sometimes the excess SS tax notification results when a taxpayer accidentally enters both spouse's W-2 forms as belonging to only one of them.
