I have 2 ssa-1099 forms for myself and my wife.  totals of $54,000 and turbotax shows no taxes

If your only income is  social security for a married joint return, you owe no tax.

In fact, if this is your only income, you do not have to file a return.

the amount of social security does noot make any of it taxable.  It's the amount of other income you have that can make it taxable..  Also a filing  status of Married Separate can make it taxable.  But filing jointly with no other income, none is taxable and, again, you don't need to file a return ans cannot e-file a return with no taxable income.
