Yes, the freeze should be removed, assuming that the verification you went through proves you're the person named on the return, and that you personally filed the return.

If that's the case, your return will be processed and you should get your refund.

Unfortunately… after successful verification, it takes about 6 weeks to complete processing.

Please see the TurboTax article "Tips for Handling Identity Verification Requests From the IRS" for additional information.

Today I received a second IRS Form 5071C, dated February 8, just three days after the first one. I contains the same, exact Control Number, so do I need to go to the website and verify my ID again?

If there's a phone number on the second letter (there usually is), you should maybe call that number for guidance before verifying your ID again on the website...

I had to verify a 5071C letter and it wasn't that bad.  Make sure your last year and current tax return are in front of you and you know your parents maiden name. Irs said they released my hold. So do I have to wait 6 to 9 weeks. ??

@waynep168 You are posting on an old thread that the original poster is unlikely to see.   And any current experience may be different from one of several years ago.

We got our refund approx 8 weeks later.  This original post is 3 years old.  But it came to my email
