There was an update. Therefore, if you had code 7D in box 7 you will need to review your entries. Sometimes it helps to delete and reenter Form 1099-R.
This did NOT fix my problem. I deleted my 1099R info, saved my return, logged off/back on and re-entered all my 1099 info. on 3/16 10am PDT. However, I still get a Needs Review” message when I Review.
After filling out the TT 1099R form with all supplied info for a 3 year tax deferred, NON-qualified annuity that matured in 2024 with a 7D distribution type I keep getting a “Needs Review” message.
The “Check This Entry” screen says “Type of Account should NOT be selected” on the Account type line in “RMD Excess accumulation” worksheet. I choose "NO ENTRY on this screen, but the “No Entry” does not stick and the Check this Entry screen shows "Other Type" when I do a final review before submitting my tax return which is not correct.
When will this problem be fixed (I've tried several workarounds for over a week with no luck)?
Also, if I file my return with this error message, will it be rejected by TT or IRS?
To clarify, are you using TurboTax Online or TurboTax Desktop?
If you are using TurboTax Online then please try the workarounds from dmertz:
For code 7D, omit the code 7 and enter only the code D.
Thank you DanaB27!!! I think that may have fixed my online problem and is much appreciated.
I edited box 7 (i.e. I unchecked “I have more than one value in box7”, put a “D” in 7, continued and when I got a “Check this Entry” error I then removed the “D” still in 7b. At this point, I continued and got no further errors and got a successful message on Check My Return. Before continuing, I also noticed that all of the radio buttons on “Type of account” were “unchecked” unlike before.
Before I submit my return can tell me:
Hello DanaB27,
I just checked the 1099R Turbo Tax worksheet on my final Tax form and noticed that only the "D" distribution code is listed, but lower down this form the box that says "check if not from a qualified retirement plan or IRA IS checked.
So I guess that means IRS will accept this. Do you agree?
Also can you let me know how I can look up “dmertz” original post?
Thanks again.
I deleted and re-entered and TT asks me to review and does not offer and option for inherited NQ stretch annuity. This keeps getting flagged and I cannot proceed.
Your experience has been forwarded to our TurboTax developers and they are working on a resolution. There should be a resolution by the end of next week. Thank you for bringing to our attention.
