Why is the calculation not using the box 2a amount from a form 1099-r?

I originally imported the 1099-R and noticed it never asked about a QCD. I have deleted the 1099-r and entered it manually with the correct amount in box 2a. The calculation still used the gross amount. I deleted the form again and entered it manually an left the box 2a blank, and indicated that box 2b showed "taxable amount not determined". The calculation is still using the box 1 amount.
