That is odd. If you look at the Data Source for Social Security Benefits on the two-year comparison, it refers to the 1040/1040SR Worksheet, Lines 6a and b.
Check to see that you have entries there.
This worksheet then drills down to the Social Security Benefits Worksheet. Check that this worksheet is filled in properly with your SSA-1099 benefit amount.
Since we can't see your return in this forum, if you can't resolve the issue, you can Contact TurboTax Support, where they can look into your computer/tax return.
However, if your tax return is correct, the two-year comparison is for your records only, so you could type in the Social Security amount for 2023 directly on the form.
Marilyn,
There is an amount on line 6a. Since this Social Security income in not taxable (according to the Turbo Tx software & from what I can gather reading about non-taxable SS), there is a zero on line 6b. Either Turbo Tax incorrectly determined my SS is not taxable, or there is a flaw in the Two-Year Comparison & also the same flaw in the screen after you e-file that gives a historical analysis where the untaxed Social Security income is also missing. I have already e-filed my Fed return & am growing concerned.
Marilyn,
After going to try typing my SS income into the Two-Year Comparison form, it is pre-filled with a zero which must be coming from line 6b, without considering that amount may be a zero & not taxable. Therefore, it should be coming from 6a. Obviously it is not. I cannot type over it. If this in fact a flaw, as long as my return is correct it has little impact on me. But if my Social Security was deemed not taxable when it should have been, I am greatly concerned & will be contacting Turbo Tax.
I just got off the phone with Turbo Tax CPA. My return is correct & my SS is NOT taxable in my specific situation. He explained that Turbo Tax does NOT include SS income on the Two-Year Comparison screen found in the Forms list for the desktop version & it does NOT include Social Security income on the multi-year Income Analysis screen after you e-file your return either. In summary, my return was confirmed to be correct.
