Why does it show my gross distribution from the 1099-R form as my income? The taxable amount is only a small part of the gross distribution.

Why does it show my gross distribution from the 1099-R form as my income? The taxable amount is only a small part of the gross distribution.

In the income summary, it will show all distributions entered. You should have a Retirement Income Results screen that will show the total distribution and the taxable part. You can also check form 1040, line 4a shows the total distribution and on line 4b you can see the taxable amount.

If the taxable amount is incorrect please review your entries in TurboTax from the form 1099-R.
