Any chance you are married, spouse is under 59.5, and you indicated it's your spouse's 1099-R and not yours by mistake?
Thanks, SteamTrain. My spouse is under 59 1/2, so I did check that this distribution is associated to me-only and it is. It is my name, not hers, on the income. No penalties appear to be imposed, but it is disconcerting that it is mis-calculating my age in this part, though not in other parts.
Then it's a puzzle for the moment. The only other thing I can think of where it might go wrong, is if you switched the order of which spouse is listed first on the My Info page, after last year's files were transferred in from a 2019 file with the spouses listed in a different order.
