@DanaB27 I followed these instructions, but I am still getting a taxable amount on my 1040, line 4b for the amount I contributed for 2022 in 2023 before April 2023.
(I filled out form 8606 in my 2022 taxes for a contribution that I made for tax year 2022, but contributed in 2023. I also made a contribution for 2023 at the same time. I now have a 2023 From 1099-R that has the combined contributions. )
How do I get rid of the taxable amount on line 4b?
@DanaB27 NVM, I realized my mistake--I wasn't adding the basis for the previous tax year contribution that was on Form 8606 line 14.
I kept having this issue as well. I followed all the directions (multiple times) for how to enter this into TT. Finally I saw another post about the 1099-R importing incorrectly. I deleted mine, manually re-entered the 1099-Rs, and problem solved!!
