TT CD on laptop

My desktop has windows 10, it will not upgrade and  I do not intend to replace the machine.  I do have a laptop with Windows 11 but it does not have a cd drive.  Will I able to use the 2025 cd by adding a cd reader to my laptop?

You do  not actually need a disk drive to use desktop software.   You can easily just download the software to your computer.   Tax year 2024 was the first year that TT did away with the plastic CD's.   So many users were confused by the concept of just downloading the software that TT made plastic CD's available for an extra $10 to comfort them.  We do not know if they will do that for 2025.   There is NO difference between the downloaded desktop software and the software that was installed from a piece of plastic.   Most new computers do not have disk drives---thus the download software instead.

Thank you for confirming the laptop download for 2025.  However, I do want you to be aware that there was, in fact, a CD for the 2024 version of TT as I own it.

Yes----I know there was a CD for 2024.   My reply above stated that.   When the 2024 desktop software was released there was not a CD.  But so many users clamored for a CD that TT made them available for an extra $10 about a month or so into the tax season.    There were -- and still will be -- many people who are simply confused and could not understand that downloading the software was no different from installing it by inserting a CD into a disk drive.   The software itself is exactly the same; the method of getting it onto your hard drive is the only difference.

@user17537218637   I'm glad you posted that.  I was just going to ask you HOW you installed 2024 on your Desktop Windows 10 because they stopped selling the CD with the 2024 version.   Where did you get the CD?  After everyone was complaining about no CD this year, they started selling the install CD for $10 but only after you first bought the 2024 download.  

Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account when you first install it, all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac) you can download it again.

Here is How to get started with the Desktop program, install and activate it.  I imagine it will be the same for next year 2025.

I believe I paid $89 for the 2024 Premier version.  Never saw anyone selling it for $10.

No you had to buy the $10 CD extra after you paid the $89 for Premier.  But only if you wanted the CD to install instead of using the download method.   Only Turbo Tax sells the CD.  Where did you get the CD?

I purchased the CD at Sam's club for $89.  I do not recall paying an additional $10 to anyone to use it.

Oh well good for you,  I didn't think Sam's (or anyone) was selling the CD.  Hope it was for the 2024 program and not for 2023.   Do you still have the CD?  Can you post a picture of it or the box it came in?
