I know I would get less money if I retired at 65 than at my Full Retirement age of 66 1/2, but would I get more money if I retired at 65 1/2 than I would at 65?  More at 66?  Meaning, does the retirement amount go up slowly until full retirement age.

Hi JM117, good day! Thank you for coming to the Special Forum.

Yes, the closer to your full retirement age, the reduced benefit "increases" gradually. Your retirement date set the amount.

If benefits begin prior to full retirement age, benefits are permanently reduced. The earliest a person can start receiving Social Security is age 62
