Mr wife, who is a year younger than me, was required to draw an Traditional IRA distribution (RMD) since she turned 73 in 2024. The withdrawel for the RMD was done in February 2025 which we had read must be done by April of 2025. We have not yet received a 1099-R from our bank that made the distribution. I can not fully fill out my Tax return information for filing until I get the 1099-R since I don't know what boxes they are required to fill out on the 1099-R. Should I demand a 1099-R from my bank? I am not comfortable waiting until the last minute for the bank to send the 1099-R since RMD's are an area they have been less than competent with in the past.
The IRA is my wife's IRA of which I am simply a beneficiary.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

As your wife turned 73 in 2024, he has until April 1, 2025 to draw her first RMD.
Therefore in 2024, there was no obligation yet. You do not need to report anything about her RMD on your 2024 tax return.
As she drew her first RMD in February 2025 (which is correct), she will receive a 2025 form 1099-R only in January 2026, which will be reported on her 2025 tax return.
Please note that she'll need to draw her RMD for 2025 before December 31, 2025.
Please read this IRS document for more information.
