Recvd 1099r for retiree medical ins. Box 1 gross cost box 2a employer contribution. Box 7= 9. Employer advised FYI only, not taxable inc. How is this entered in TT?

Retired Jan 2023, no 1099R received for 2023. Employer unable to explain the form for 2024 other than its FYI only, not intended to be taxable income. Can this be entered into Turbo Tax to removed the income tax impact from data in Box 2a of the form? Should the employer update the 1099r to show the taxable income at $0?

You can enter the 1099-R in TurboTax as you received it. The employer paid portion is taxable income to you, so you should not make any adjustments on the form.

The employer has stated this is supposed to be non taxable.  As they issued the 1099r should they now issue a correction?  Is that the only way to show this as $0 income related to the medical insurance benefit they provided?
