When will the Pension/Annuities/IRA Worksheet: Txble Pens/IRA(Reg Dist) update be available for NY State? I'm unable to complete my NY filing because of this?

@holl22 just got off the phone with Ashley in TT support.... states engineers are actively working on this issue and there is NO time frame of when this will be completed.  She advised me to file my taxes and then amend them later.  I advised her I will NOT go through all that complicated mess just because TT software is having an issue.

@Anonymous ugh. that does not sound promising. I had to file an amended return a few years ago. You're right, a complicated mess. I will just keep waiting and checking every day, like I have nothing else to do. Smh. Thanks for the info.

Why am I getting a “Check this Entry” message blocking me from filing my State return?

If you withdrew from retirement because of COVID-19 and have Form 8915-E on your federal return, you may have gotten a “Check this Entry” message stopping you from filing your state return.

We’re working hard to incorporate this new form into all the states in TurboTax. To ensure that your return is accurate, check back after March 19 to file your return. We should have it ready by then!

@AJ0688 Not sure what version of the software you are using. I'm using TT on my desktop and not the online version. When I go to the option to file a return, there's a screen that shows Federal and State and gives me the option to E-file now or I can choose the other option, to hold off and wait to file. Support stated it would be fixed yesterday on the 5th and it was not fixed. I decided to E-file my Federal and hold off on my State taxes till March 19th (when they claim this will be fixed).

I did the same, except I'm using the online version.

Once you've got everything finished (except for fixing the state return), click on 'File' in the left-hand menu. You'll go through some steps and eventually hit a point where it asks you to either fix your state return or file it by mail instead.

Select 'file by mail' to get around that. You don't have to actually file by mail, and this doesn't lock you out of being able to e-file later ... It just gets you past that screen, so you can e-file your federal return.

Once your federal return is filed, your state return will show up on the home screen with a button that says 'continue your state return.' If you click to continue the state return, you'll end up back at the 'fix my state return' page where you see the broken worksheet, etc. 

Then it's just a fun game of wait-and-see-when-TT-fixes-this. That's where most of us are at, it seems.

I heard Turbo Tax will have the NY State issue fixed by April 15th - sarcasm. Does anyone know if H&R Block is having the same issue with NY State? At this point we must be prepared for Plan B. Just in case.

First we waited almost a month for Federal form 8915-E and now this!  Very frustrating.  

I filed my Federal return independently since it is the lion's share of my refund and I want 2021 income (or lack there of 😂) to be considered for the stimulus check. 

I printed my State return as it stands now, and noticed the taxes on my distribution were spread over three years just like in my federal return.  Federal form 8915-E is what made this happen on my federal return.  Since it has already been spread over three years on may NY return, what do we expect this missing form to change once it is available if anything?  Just curious.

I called TT and spoke with a very nice representative named Judy.  She said TT is aware of the issue; but she could not provide a date for a fix.  TT needs to include/incorporate a NY state form called "Enhanced Form IT-558, New York Adjustments due to Decoupling from the IRC" into their software so that we can e-file NY state returns.  Judy did not see any mention of a 3/19 fix date; but here recommendation was to try back in a week. :(

According to TT's online form availability for NY state, IT-558 is available and supported already. There's no mention there of an update ... Not saying it's not the case, just wondering why they'd say it's ready if it's not.

My understanding it that we are all waiting on an “Enhanced” IT-558.  The enhancement being the data on how to deal with COVID-19 Disaster Distributions.

"Enhanced" forms are just PDF forms that have enhanced features like barcodes for easier filing and processing. NY state has enhanced versions of all of their forms, but the fields/information on the forms are the same.

The "enhanced" IT-558 is already online:  https://www.tax.ny.gov/pit/ads/efile_addit558-2d.htm. I have no idea if NY has plans to update the form or is working on that, since they seem to be pretty bad at sharing that sort of information online ... But at any rate, it's available already in an e-fileable format.

According to TurboTax's list of documents for NY state (Online/Web version for Individuals), it is available and supported for e-filing:

The "enhanced" title is only used on the NY Dept. of Taxation site. TurboTax doesn't refer to or include that in any of the titles, since it really only relates to NY state's processing of the documents, not how you fill them out on TurboTax. (Note that none of the other NY state documents on that list have "enhanced" in the title, even though all are available in enhanced form on the NY Dept. of Taxation website.)

Do I need to do something beyond logging on to get my return too update?  I, just like many others, am being told by the program that my NY return is not ready to file until this missing form situation its fixed.
