What is "basis" of retirement income on PA income tax return

Hi,  does that same PA Basis information apply to 1099Rs that have Distribution Code 2 ?  My understanding of Code 2 is that it is some type of early distribution exception.  Do we still need to find all of the Contribution amounts minus other distributions?  Thanks

What is "basis" of retirement income on PA income tax return

Hi. Thank you so much for the perfect explanation. If I had 2 previous distributions (2013,2016,) do I add those to my 2021 distribution or just the previous two together and subtract that from my total contributions from the life of the plan?   Thank you.

Yes, you would take the total of all of the contributions that you made, and subtract the distributions that you got in 2013 and 2016.  Anything left is your new basis.
