I'm getting an error on line 6a of the keogh/sep wks saying the value cannot be higher than 22,500, and that is the value in the field.

I have an Individual 401k, have contributed 22,500 (6a), a catch-up contribution of 7,500 (6b), and a k-1 contribution of 18,199.  My total contributions are well under an allowable amount of 62,122 based on the lower part III of the worksheet.

It appears that a programmer used "<" rather than "<=", but I can't be certain.

You might try entering a number that's a dollar less than the (6a) maximum to see if that resolves the error. If it does, you could add the dollar to the K-1 contribution to retain the actual total contributions. (Data entry only - no change to K-1).

@PatriciaV Update:  the 22,500 value still does not work.  I tried 22,499, and that failed.  For giggles, I tried 10,000 in the field, and that failed.  As a last step, I deleted the form and tried re-entering everything.  That also didn't fix anything.  The presence of any value in that field seems to trigger the error.

I've called the support line three times trying to get to a software lead: Friday I was put into a hold loop after being asked if I had considered TTOnline -- which has nothing to do with my question -- and never heard from the support agent again.  Today, the first person suggested just changing the value (as though I hadn't tried that), and after telling him I had, he hung up on me.

Later today, after that second disaster, I did get to a software tech and his lead.  They've been trying to help, but several of their suggestions involved moving the values to different deduction fields, which a) doesn't fix the problem I have, and b) is more or less lying on my taxes, so...no.

THIS IS A SOFTWARE ERROR...full-stop.  The error isn't that I'm using the wrong form or trying to access a feature I haven't paid for.  The software literally isn't properly recognizing the value in the field, and at no point has anyone said that the software will be updated.  This is a fix that could be coded, tested, verified, and deployed in a matter of a couple of days (I know...I build software solutions for a living.)

If I can't e-file, and the software won't be updated to fix an obvious bug, why on earth am I paying Intuit?

I'm getting an error on line 6a of the keogh/sep wks saying the value cannot be higher than 22,500, and that is the value in the field.

Line numbers below refer to those on the Keogh, SEP and SIMPLE Contributions Worksheet.

Contributions reported with code R in box 13 of a Schedule K-1 (Form 1065) are handled during the entry of the Schedule K-1.  The code-R amount must be split between employee contributions (propagating to line 6b or 7b if traditional or Roth, respectively) and the employer contribution, propagating to line 6e.

With $22,500 entered on line 6a and $7,500 on line 6c, nothing is permitted to be on line 6b because that would exceed the elective deferral limit, causing 2023 TurboTax to flag an error on line 6a even though it's the total of lines 6a, 6b, 6c, 7a and 7b being over $30,000 that triggers the error.  With $22,500 on line 6a and $7,500 on line 6c, the entire $18,199 from the Schedule K-1 would have to be designated as being employer contribution which TurboTax will automatically propagate to line 6e.

I'm getting an error on line 6a of the keogh/sep wks saying the value cannot be higher than 22,500, and that is the value in the field.

@dmertz , thank you for your explanation.  With it, I was able to trace back to the K-1 data entry and correct the $18,199 value from 'contributions' to 'matching contributions'; that corrected the worksheet and cleared the error.  This one is on me (although the imprecise nature of Code R on line 13 of the K-1 didn't help...co-mingling regular contributions and matching contributions is a bit clunky.)

But that brings me back to the fact that this is still a software error.  While it is true that Line 6a of the Keogh/SEP/Simple worksheet may not exceed $22,500 that is NOT the error that my form was generating.  I should have seen an error along the lines of "The Sum of Lines 6a and 6b may not exceed $22,500" along with an explanatory note much like what you provided, @dmertz : "If there is a value in Line 6b, you may want to check your K-1 data entry form to confirm if that value is a contribution or a matching contribution."

Thanks for the feedback...I was able to file this morning.

Note:  as an additional frustration, the error was being generated on a Worksheet, not on a form I would normally submit.  The changes necessary to clear the error and reflect the matching contribution did not change the adjustment value that landed on form 1040 or on form 1040 Schedule 1.
