How is the New York Income Factor calculated? It's showing 0.7512 on our return but 75% of our income was not earned in New York. It should be about 40%.

How is the New York Income Factor calculated? It's showing 0.7512 on our return but 75% of our income was not earned in New York. It should be about 40%.

The New York income percentage is based on the percentage of New York-source income compared to total federal income.

 

If your percentage does not look accurate, revisit the New York return, and find the screens where your income is designated as New York-sourced.
