This is first year that federal software moved W-2 data to other income.  then MA software picked up both W-2 and other income causing doubling.  what can I do?

If you're using TurboTax Desktop, go to Forms and under your Massachusetts 'Forms in My Return' click on Schedule X.

If this is the only item on Schedule X, Line 4, use the Magnifying Glass to go to 'Other 5% Income Statement'.

Click on 'Delete Form' at the bottom and see if this removes the amount from Schedule X.

If this does not resolve the issue (or you have several items on the 5% Statement), please let us know so we can investigate further.

If this is a pension, it reported on a 1099R, not a W2.  If you entered this as a W2, go to federal>wages and income>job W2 nad delete the entry by selecting the trash can icon that appears.

Now to report your 1099R (if that is what you have), go to Go to  Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA  401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals. This is where you report pensions.

Also check to see if you may have entered this as other income by going to Go to federal>income and expenses>all income>Other common income or  Federal Taxes -> Wages & Income>Less Common Income>Miscellaneous Income> Other reportable income. If you have any income reported in these sections, delete that as well.

This is indeed a non-qualified pension and is reported to on a W-2 (NOT 1099R) as it has been for the last 25 years.  I see elsewhere that IRS made a change this year to move this to other income and fees.  That is all ok so far.  However, when data is transferred to my Massachusetts return it ends up doubled because both W-2 data AND other income is transferred.  What can I do?
