Does my son have to be receiving disability benefits for me to list him as disabled

Not sure that it would change anything either way but when it asked for more info on our children I'm wondering if I should check the box marked disabled for my son even though he does not receive any disability benefits. He has juvenile epilepsy and a brain aneurysm neither condition is going away.

No, your son does not have to be receiving disability income to indicate that he is disabled.

For information on when the Social Security Administration considers a child to be disabled, please go to the link below and begin reading at the bottom of page 5, "SSI Rules about Disability".
