My imported tax info from my fin advisor created 2 1099-DIVs. Both have same amt. for box 1a (tot ord divs). The 1st has no other info; the 2nd has correct amounts. Why?

This sounds like you may have received a corrected 1099-DIV (the one with all the "correct" amounts you mentioned), and the 1099 with the sole amount is the original.  The corrected form takes precedence and is the one to be input.

I don't think you'll be able to tell by looking at the import screens.  The 1099-DIV has a place at the top of the form where two boxes can be checked, Void and Corrected (see example here https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-access/f1099div_accessible.pdf).  That "corrected" box will be checked if the form is such.

Just to be sure, I would go to the web site of the firm that issued the 1099, log into your account, and search for Tax Forms. You should be able to pull up the corrected form (if, in fact, that's what it is) and see the other as well.

If these forms are for the same account #, then that's a sign that one is corrected.  If you have different accounts, then it's possible they're two valid forms with a similar amount in box 1a, but this is how you'll know for sure.  If one is indeed a corrected form, then you'll delete the other one and keep only the corrected version in TurboTax.
