MA state taxes

A similar question was posted but I would like to clarify. I am a retired teacher from New York State now living full time in MA. I am 64 years old. Do I have to pay Massachusetts state taxes on my New York State teachers retirement system pension? I am reading mixed answers when I search. Most of my searches come up with if you are 59 1/2 or older you are exempt from Massachusetts state taxes. One search talked about a $20,000 exception. Thank you in advance!

MA state taxes

Because New York only allows $20,000 to be excluded from retirees who receive income from the Massachusetts public employees pension plans, your exemption will be the same.

If you move to Massachusetts and receive pension payments from your former states' public employee retirement plans, you can deduct those from your Massachusetts gross income if the former state doesn't tax income its residents receive from Massachusetts.
