Is the IRA Contribution the same as box 12c code AA on your w2
No,an IRA contribution is usually made by an individual account holder outside of their work.
Code AA in box 12 of your W-2 form is a designated Roth contribution to a 401(k) plan. Because it is on the W-2 form, the contribution was handled by your employer and the figure should not be entered as an IRA contribution on your tax return.

And to be clear, a 401(k) plan is not an IRA.
