Thanks for responding. It was issued from LA but we’re PA residents. Federal tax was already withheld from the gross and was reflected in the amount she received.
This Pennsylvania Department of Revenue website states:
Life insurance on the life of the decedent is not taxable in the estate of the decedent. In addition, the proceeds are not taxable according the state income tax law.
Is the income reported on a 1099-R? Is box 7 coded as '4'?
