That depends on if any state tax was withheld in box 11.   If not state tax withheld then all boxes 10-11 should be BLANK.

The state had already taken out taxes. So it was confusing me when it kept saying that it needs to be filled in.

Thank you so much!

What state?   Does it have a box for state tax withheld?  Which box?

(I have seen another post about a 1099-G form a state that is not using the official IRS form and boxes.)

Does your 1099-G look like this?

I’m from Iowa and no they didn’t use the official form and the boxes 10a and 10b do not exist on the form they used so how are we supposed to enter the info for 10b that we’re not provided with?

You would have to go by the wording and not the box numbers.   If states are sending out a Federal form then they should be using the official Federal form.

That much is obvious so not helpful. There is literally no state ID number, just the federal ID number, on this form and turbo tax is insisting I have to enter information that doesn’t exist on the form I received and the wait times are ridiculous to contact unemployment cuz everyone is calling on their claims due to Iowa being obscenely behind on paying people’s claims and it takes days for them to reply to emails

If there was state tax withheld then you need the payers state tax ID number.  Contact the issuer of the form for the ID number.

If no state tax withheld then  leave boxes 10-11 blank.
