Just checking: Have you had a Schedule C business in the past that maybe is hanging around in your return? TurboTax transfers pertinent information from prior years into the current year's return. One thing that transfers is sources of income.
If you've had a Schedule C business in the past, you'll need to first properly "dispose" of this Schedule C from your return. If that's the case in your situation, use the instructions in the TurboTax FAQ linked below to remove this schedule.
How do I delete a prior-year Schedule C business that transferred over?
If you just need to delete the 1099-NEC, you can use the instructions I'm linking below.
How do I view and delete forms in TurboTax Online?
To remove the 1099-NEC, here are the steps:
In TurboTax online version:
1. Sign into your account, select Pick up where you left off
2. Select Tax Tools, click on the drop down arrow
3. Select Tools
4. Under Other helpful links, choose Delete a form
5. Select Delete next to the form 1099-NEC and Continue with My Return
Generally, most taxpayers who receive a Form1099-NEC are considered as self employed by the IRS and required to pay self-employment tax. You will need to file a Schedule C reporting both income and any related expenses
