I have pension accounts from former employer and have never withdrawn. Do I have to report the amount in my accounts for my tax return? I live abroad and no USD income.

I left my job in 2015. I currently live abroad and have no USD income. I have 403B and 401A retirement accounts still. I have never withdrawn any money. Do I have to report the amount in these 2 accounts to the IRS when I file my tax return?

If you have not withdrawn from your U.S. retirement accounts then there is no income to report on your tax return.

Also, your 403(b) and 401(a) accounts are U.S. accounts and do not have to be reported on your FBAR.

It depends.

If you are a U.S. citizen or a green card holder, you are required to file a U.S. income tax return and report your worldwide income.

If you are a nonresident foreign national, you are not required to file a tax return in the U.S. because there is no taxable income to report.

I always file my federal tax return and submit my FBAR. My question is if I have to report the money, which I have never withdrawn, in my 403b and 401a retirement accounts?
