Are the survivor benefits reported on an IRS form 1099-R? Does the form include a taxable amount in box 2a?
If so, then the Ohio Department of Revenue states:
Deduct survivor benefits to the extent included in federal adjusted gross income.
See - that's the thing. It's an annuity through a life insurance policy my dad had. I did receive a 1099-R with the amount in box 2a that is taxable, and I've reported that on my federal return.
But I saw the thing in the Ohio state return about "survivor benefits" and wondered whether this annuity counted.
