To qualify for a Qualified Charitable Distribution, your birthdate in TurboTax needs to show that you are at least 70 1/2 years old during the tax year. The distribution also needs to be from an IRA/SEP/SIMPLE account and the box checked on the 1099-R and in TurboTax.
Box 7 should have code 7. As you go through the questions there is one that asks if this is a transfer to charity if you meet the above qualifications.
If you pick the all or part of the distribution went to a qualified charity then that amount that was transferred to the charity is not taxable.

Were you age 70½ or older in 2019? If not, the distribution does not qualify as a QCD.
Was the distribution actually from an IRA (IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box marked on the Form 1099-R)? If not, the distribution does not qualify as a QCD.
If the distribution is from an IRA (code 4 or 7 and the IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box is marked) and you were age 70½ or over, in the questions that follow entering the Form 1099-R TurboTax will ask how much was transferred to chairty and exclude this amount from the amount on 2019 Form 1040 line 4b, with the notation "QCD" next to the line.
If the distribution does not qualify as a QCD, you'll need to claim it as a charitable deduction on Schedule A.
