The IRS has not yet issued any guidance for what to do in your situation. Right now you can't do anything. You have to wait until the IRS provides instructions for how to get the refund.

Does SS amend past year documents when you withdraw your benefits and pay back the funds received - or will I receive a negative document in 2025?
