You'll get a 1099-R if you received $10 or more from a retirement plan. Here's how to enter your 1099-R in TurboTax:
Thanks for writing. I didn't get a 1099, just a notice saying the distribution was a 401a as opposed to 401k. Any advice on that?
Thanks
When did the distribution occur? Was it in 2019 because if so, regardless whether it be a 401A or 401K, it should have been reported on a 1099R. Contact the trustee of the plan. Meanwhile, please review this link that explains the difference between 401a and 401K. The reporting requirement is the same for both plans and that is the issuance of a 1099R reporting the distribution.
Ok, so we need to request a 1099R.
Thanks, this helped. 🙂
