How should I answer? My only Roth IRA I owned for 10 years and cashed out in Oct 16 to pay off our house. Did I own it on Dec 16? Age 63. Don't want penalties.

If you had no money in Roth IRAs on December 31, 2016, indicate that you had no Roth IRAs open on that date.
