Interest paid within the IRA is not relevant. If you requested and received a distribution from the IRA in 2024 then you would have received a Form 1099-R. Contact your IRA administrator for the 1099-R.
Our bank stated they do not generate 1099s on IRAs that have less than $10 in interest. So I should demand one anyway? We did not invest the funds when we put them in the IRA on purpose, just placed it there for tax purposes. So do they have to generate one?
Yes, they were quoting you the rule for generating a Form 1099-INT. It must be greater than $10 of interest income.
But, for a Form 1099-R, if the total distribution amount is greater than $10 regardless of earnings in the account, then the form must be issued.
