If you made an excess contribution in 2024 and withdrew the 2024 excess Roth IRA contribution plus earnings in 2025 before the due date, then you will get a 2025 Form 1099-R in 2026 with codes P and J. This 1099-R will have to be included on your 2024 tax return and you have two options:
To create a Form 1099-R in your 2024 return please follow the steps below:
Please be aware, code P will say in the drop-down menu "Return of contribution taxable in 2023" but you can ignore that since the follow-up question will tell TurboTax that it will be taxable in 2024.
Also, make sure you indicate you withdrew the excess by the due date if you entered the contribution in the IRA contribution interview:

I have created and added the 2025 1099-R for the distribution amount and entered the earnings as taxable amount as instructed. I also entered the earnings as "Corrective distributions made before the due date of the return." for the question, "Did you use your IRA to pay for any of these expenses?"
Do you still have to report the earnings separated as "Other Income"?
I supposed not.
Tom.
Do you need to check the statement, "I need to prepare a substitute 1099-R" so that Form 4852 will be created?
No, don't select that option since you aren't disputing a distribution, simply correcting the excess contribution and you will get a 1099-R for 2025.
Enter as if you received the 1099-R and follow the steps provided.
Your just entering the 1099-R that you'll get later so that you needn't file an amended return.
The IRS will understand what you are reporting.
Thank you your prompt response. You rock!
Tom.
