Re: How do I remove this Form 8915A or 8915B, Qualified Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions and Repayments, in this return
Re: How do I remove this Form 8915A or 8915B, Qualified Disaster Retirement Plan Distributions and Repayments,
When you entered a 1099-R it asked you if you received a disaster disbursement from your retirement account. If you answered yes then TurboTax generated the form for you. If you delete the 1099-R that generated the questions and then re-enter it - making sure to answer 'no' to the disaster disbursement questions this time then, as @macuser_22 says above, it should remove the form.
If it doesn't you can delete the form itself.
To Delete a form:
Select Tax Tools from the menu on the left
Then select Tools
When the new menu pops up select Delete a Form
You will see a list of all the forms in your return
Find the form that you want to delete
Select the Form
Click Delete on the right
Tax forms are interconnected. While you are on this screen don’t start deleting forms you don’t recognize.
I have not been able to delete the 1099-R form. I did not take any distributions. I went to tools to delete the form 4 or 5 times. It says successfully deleted, but is still prompting me to review the section and although I entered no for each question, it constantly brings me back to review. When I go back in, the form is still there. Do I need to clear and start over. All my info is already in :(
Did you check the subheading Retirement Plans and Social Security in the Income & Expense section? In the Retirement Plans and Social Security section is where a taxpayer enters 1099-R information. Review that section and if you see any reference to the 1099-R you want to delete, clear those entries or if you see the 1099-R on the Review your 1099-R info page, click on the trash icon across from the entry to delete it.
Thank you for the reply. I did this several times. I do not see any trash can.
Are you using TurboTax Online or Desktop?
In TurboTax Online, type '1099-r' in the Search area, then click on 'Jump to 1099-r'.
At the 1099-R Summary page, click the Trash Can (screenshot).
In TurboTax Desktop, go to FORMS at the upper right, then click on 'Open Form' at the upper left. Type in 1099-R and open the form that pops up.
At the bottom of the form, choose 'Delete Form' (screenshot).
This link has info on How to Enter 1099-R.
This method did not work for me and as many times as I delete the form, it still will not let me file. Help!
Two things to know: One is that you could have something stuck. Two: Tech is working on 8915.
Try these steps to get rid of 8915 forms.
Since you don't need the 8915, this should work for you. @ARocky5
No entry shown for Form 8915. I had to have the client Clear and Start Over and enter "N" when the question came up "did you receive a Disaster Distribution?" otherwise, you cannot get rid of the erroneous checkmark.
